ABOUT

The current scientific paradigm holds that mind and consciousness can be explained in purely classical materialist terms. This position has become increasingly untenable, both theoretically and experimentally.

In response, we are pleased to announce the Quantum Mind Summer Institute—a unique international workshop and summer school at the University of San Diego (1-15 August 2026), where we will explore the quantum nature of both. Its goal is to help establish a new interdisciplinary field of study that unites quantum physics, neuroscience, and biology to understand more fully the nature of consciousness and the human mind.

Our curriculum will begin with basic and intermediate quantum physics, neuro- and brain science, quantum biology, and philosophical underpinnings. From there, world experts will present a number of special topics, including quantum AI (QAI), leading theories of quantum consciousness, and evidence of quantum phenomena in neuroscience and the human mind. In addition to classes, participants will be invited to meet with leaders of the QAI community; attend a short research conference; and present their own ideas and research. Several outings and social events are planned.

The application process will be streamlined. Graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and early-career faculty will be given preference, but outstanding undergraduates will also be considered. Scholarships will be offered to all participants, covering food, lodging as well as some travel.

We hope you can join us next summer in San Diego for this groundbreaking event.

THEMES

Paradigm Shift:

Quantum Mind Summer Institute is not just as an institute, but as a revolutionary force in neuroscience to update it with quantum dynamics.

Interdisciplinary:

No single person can master the entire curriculum. The program will create new kinds of minds—hybrids across fields.

Intellectual Rebellion:

Echoing Kuhn’s concept of paradigm shifts, QMSI challenges dogma. It’s for those ready to break rules in pursuit of deeper truths.

Philosophic-Scientific Fusion:

Many involved are drawn by philosophical questions. The brand should reflect profound inquiry, not just academic rigor.

Collegial Culture:

With limited lecture time and generous free time, the program invites deep, informal exchange, echoing earlier consciousness conferences that spawned lifelong collaborations.

Pacific Coast location:

San Diego is an ideal creative setting—sun, sea, and a welcoming campus encouraging openness and exploration.
